The Morose Bee started in my college dorm room in 2008 as a creative outlet in between studying and working. My early products were mostly up-cycled items and vintage finds, but as time went on I began to explore new materials from ceramics to textiles.
I noticed with each new project I would undertake left me feeling like I was only contributing to climate change. Frustrated that it seemed like there was so much low quality, synthetic, and harmful products filling craft stores, I knew it was time for The Morose Bee to offer something more. While I still love making handmade items from time to time, The Morose Bee is now primarily a place to shop or trade sustainable fabric and notions.
I believe that makers shouldn't have to choose between following their passion or their desire to live more sustainably. I strive to create a more eco-friendly shopping experience by offering sustainably made new products as well as secondhand materials and destash items.
